Why You Need to Exfoliate Your Skin

Flawless makeup starts with smooth, glowing skin. Makeup won’t sit on your face if it’s too flaky, too dry or oily or if it has clogged pores. So before you even start highlighting, strobing, baking or anything in between, you need to exfoliate your skin first.

Regular exfoliation helps enhance the natural skin renewal process. Skin cells on the surface are essentially dead so they can make the skin feel dry and look dull. They can also lead to clogged pores that can then cause breakouts. Endless circle, right? Exfoliation lifts the dead skin cells away to reveal brighter, smoother and clearer skin underneath. What’s great about exfoliation is that it’s beneficial for all skin types so it should be part of anyone’s skincare routine.

I’ve recently tried two different exfoliating products that Repechage was kind enough to send me: the One-Minute Exfoliating Mask and Marine Exfoliator with Phyto-Marine Actives and I love both of them. The brand is actually the first professional skincare company to use seaweed-based products in the US and I first learned about them during my Esthetician Course.

The One-Minute Exfoliating Mask is a great, quick way to deep cleanse and absorb excess oil. It has tiny granules (made of rice bran wax and lactic acid) that provide mechanical exfoliation and go deep into pores to unblock them. This mask is especially beneficial for normal to oily, blemish-prone skin as it contains ingredients that help keep breakouts and oil at bay, while cooling the skin. I applied it with my fingers using gentle circular motions and paying special attention to areas with enlarged pores. After rinsing the mask, I was happy to see that the mask does not dry out the skin and leaves it feeling fresh and smooth.

The Rapidex Marine Exfoliator with Phyto-Marine Actives is a serious stuff if you’re looking not only to remove dead skin cells but also to rejuvenate your skin, improve its tone and get rid of sunspots. It comes with 14 ampules to offer a very concentrated and effective dosage. The Rapidex treatment helps refine the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines while helping to brighten the skin. I’ve noticed that my skin has some extra glow after using the treatment.

I typically exfoliate my skin once or twice a week, depending on my skin’s needs and I want to encourage you to do the same. Your skin will thank you plus your makeup will look better than ever! 🙂

Xoxo,
